SILVER MEDAL - 60th ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS 1948 - 2008
On December, 10th, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood”. This is article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which, on December, 10th, 1948, will celebrate its 60th anniversary. San Marino is proud to commemorate this event with a medal. On the reverse is depicted a woman handing a child a better world, supported by the Declaration of Human Rights. The obverse depicts the three Towers and feathers, the crown of the Republic’s coat of arms and the olive and oak branches.
