The official commemorative coin collection 2009 is very rich and interesting. I am proud to present you the 10 euro silver and the 20 euro gold proof coins, belonging to the successful collection EUROPA-coins. It is dedicated to one
of the most internationally renowned Italian scientist and inventor, Guglielmo Marconi, on the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize given to him “in recognition of his
contribution to the development of wireless telegraphy”.

A 10 euro silver proof coin will celebrate the International Year of Astronomy, a year-long celebration of astronomy, taking place in 2009 to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations with a telescope by Galileo Galilei and the publication of Johannes Kepler‘s “Astronomia Nova”.

The Italian baroque painter Annibale Carracci will be commemorated with a 10 euro silver proof coin on the 400th Anniversary of his death. His fame is due to the painting of the frescoes in the Roman Palazzo Farnese. Throughout 17th and 18th centuries, the Farnese Ceiling was considered the unrivaled masterpiece of fresco painting for its age.

Another popular theme, celebrated with a 5 euro silver BU coin, will be the 100th
anniversary of the first “Giro d‘Italia” (Tour of Italy), a long distance road bycicle race for professional cyclists held over three weeks between May and June in and around Italy.

Moreover, a 5 euro silver BU coin will be dedicated to the Futurism, an art movement that originated in Italy in the early 20th century. The Futurists admired all
that represented the technological triumph of humanity over nature and they practiced in every medium of art, from painting to industrial design, from literature to architecture.

The gold series “Europe of Arts” will focus this year on Spain and United Kingdom. On the 20 euro it will be represented a detail from the Sagrada Familia, the church under construction in Barcelona originally designed by Antonio Gaudì, while on the 50 euro there will be a detail from the painting “Laus Veneris” by one of the most famous English artists, Edward Burne Jones.

Last but not least a 5 euro silver coin, dedicated to the 2009 World Aquatics Championships, will be inserted in the BU and proof annual currency set. The 2009 Championships will be held in Rome from July 18 to August 2.

Finally, for the first time two different national faces of the 2 euro commemorative coins
will be issued in 2009: one dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Economic and Monetary Union and the other one celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Louis Braille inventor of the world-wide system used by the blind for reading and writing.

Ohne den Sonderzweier bisher immer 85,- Euro Das ist ja für einen PP 2er nicht gerade viel Aufschlag

Wow, darf im Sep. für 2 Wochen nach Italien; wahrscheinlich Umgebung von Florenz. :D
Kann bei italienischen Banken eigentlich auch KMS erwerben oder gibt es die nur in Rom. Und wie sieht es mit Original Umlaufmünzen-Rollen aus?
Kann mir da jemand Tipps geben??? :hi:
