ISSUE OF COLLECTOR COINS
50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS
The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) announces the issue of a gold collector coin with a nominal value of €20 and a silver collector coin with a nominal value of €5 in proof condition and issue year 2010. The issue is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus.
The coins depict a stylised tree with its complex branches embracing a pigeon, symbolising the desire of the island’s communities for peaceful coexistence. The designer is Mrs Clara Zacharaki-Georgiou and the coins were minted by the Greek Mint.
The issue limits and the price, including VAT, for each gold and silver coin are shown below:

Sales will commence for the public on 2 November 2010 and for professional coin dealers on 9 November 2010.
Sales to the public:
Sales will be effected by the CBC over the counter (in cash) or through its e-shop at http://www.centralbank.gov.cy (with Visa or Mastercard).
A limit of two coins per person and per transaction has been set for the sale of the gold coin to the public.
Sales to professional coin dealers:
The CBC will accept applications for the purchase of coins from professional coin dealers from 20 until 27 October 2010. The quantity allocated will be decided in accordance with availability after the end of the first week of sales to the public. In the event of all the coins being sold to the public, the CBC will not be able to supply professional coin dealers.
For purchases by professional coin dealers of 50 silver coins and over, there is a discount of 10% on the sale price, across the board, excluding the 15% VAT. There is no discount for gold coins.
