Central Bank of Malta - 2012 Coin Programme

Following our communication of the 3rd February 2012 launching the above mentioned programme and your subsequent order, below please find a table giving you the details of your order for the 2012 products, the allocation of coins and their cost. The table excludes postage and any items from previous years that you may have ordered. These will be communicated separately. The price quoted for the Gold and Silver coins is inclusive of the box. We are also pleased to inform you that the first product from the MCDC’s programme, the €2 coin commemorating the “Ten Years of the Euro” is going to be issued on Friday 30th March 2012.

In this regard, you are kindly requested to confirm the above allocation by Friday 30th March 2012 on email address mcdc@centralbankmalta.org. If you confirm, please indicate whether you wish to collect the coins from the MCDC counter or have them sent by post, in which case the cost of postage will be communicated to you later. To collect the coins from the MCDC counter, please call on ---- for an appointment.

You can effect payment for the amount due above in respect of the “Ten Years of the Euro” coin only. Should you wish to transfer the money to our bank account, this should be done before the coins can be collected or sent by post.

CBoM hat geschrieben:Issue of €2 Coin Commemorating “Ten Years of the Euro”

On Friday 30 March 2012, the Central Bank of Malta will be issuing the first coin of its 2012 Coin Programme - the €2 coin commemorating ‘’Ten years of the Euro’’. The coin will be issued in circulation quality in rolls of 25 coins each.
This commemorative coin will be issued by all euro area countries and will have a common design on the national side of the coin. It was designed by an Austrian mint designer and was selected by an international jury in a competition organised by the ECB.
The design symbolises the way in which the euro has established itself as a major currency after ten years of existence. It shows its importance in the lives of the euro area community (represented by the people), in trade (represented by the ship), in industry (represented by the factory) and in energy (represented by the wind power stations). As announced by the Bank on the 3 February the coin will be made available in limited quantities to those who have submitted an order on the Bank’s prescribed form in the period 3 February to 20 February. It will not be available for sale over the counter. The Bank would like to emphasise that, in view of the fact that the number of orders received substantially exceeded the amount of coins that the Bank is permitted to issue, the Bank is not in a position to fully meet all requests submitted in the order forms.
The Bank will be contacting all those who placed their orders to inform them of their allocation, the means of payment and the dates on which they will be requested to collect them.
