This system where the traction is carried out by the front wheels, allows the bodywork of the car to be lowered and its weight to be lighter, thanks to the removal of the propeller shaft. This system is still being used in the majority of cars. The front-wheel drive is a legendary car, symbol of the resistance, symbol of an era ! The obverse features the portrait of André Citroën, his date of birth and death and a symbol – the stripes of the brand. The reverse features the first front-wheel drive created by André Citroën.

Une nouvelle série de monnaies de collection qui rend hommage aux grands industriels français ayant marqué notre histoire débute cette année avec André Citroën et sa légendaire voiture : la traction. Ingénieur émérite en matière d’innovations technologiques, André Citroën est le créateur du système de traction avant qui a permis de rabaisser la caisse de la voiture et d’en alléger le poids.
Diffusée depuis le 15 octobre 2008, cette nouvelle monnaie rappelle l’histoire d’une voiture emblématique de la Résistance.
Sur la face, le portrait d’André Citroën accolé aux chevrons de la marque. Sur le revers, la représentation visuelle de la toute première traction créée par André Citroën.
