Obverse: in the centre, Pinocchio, the hero of Carlo Collodi's masterpiece, "The Adventures of Pinocchio: The Story of a Puppet", dancing. In the field, on the right, Pinocchio's shadow gazes in astonishment at the Talking Cricket on the tip of his long nose, which is growing from telling one of his lies. At the top "CARLO COLLODI" along with the dates "1826" and "2026", respectively, the celebrated author's birth year and the coin's issue year. On the left "R", identifying the Mint of Rome. Obverse: at the centre, an image of Saint Francis of Assisi inspired by a 14th-century fresco by Simone Martini located in the Basilica of Saint Francis, Assisi (Umbria, Italy).
