Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 – The Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as from 12 November 2009, the National Bank of Romania is to put into circulation for numismatic purposes a gold coin, a silver coin and a copper tombac coin dedicated to the anniversary of 150 years since the establishment of the Great General Staff of the Romanian Army.

The collector coins have the following features:

Obverse: on the right, the portrait of prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza and his name inscribed in a half circle; on the left, from top to bottom, the face value of the coin, the inscription “ROMANIA”, Romania’s coat of arms, and the year of issue.

Reverse: in the upper half, an image depicting the armies of the Romanian Principalities, Moldavia and Wallachia, meeting at Socola camp and the inscription “1859”; below the image, partly overlapping it, the distinguishing mark of the General Staff from 1860 and the inscription “150 DE ANI STATUL MAJOR GENERAL”.

Each coin is embedded in a transparent plastic capsule and is accompanied by a leaflet featuring an overview of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. The leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Head Cashier of the National Bank of Romania. The coins are displayed in appropriate cases having the NBR logo – BNR – inscribed on the lid.

The gold, silver and copper tombac coins dedicated to the anniversary of 150 years since the establishment of the Great General Staff of the Romanian Army are legal tender in Romania.

The selling prices are the following: leu 1,000 (the gold coin), leu 120 (the silver coin) and leu 65 (the copper tombac coin). The price includes neither the VAT, nor the price of the case.

The collector coins made of gold, silver and copper tombac dedicated to the anniversary of 150 years since the establishment of the Great General Staff of the Romanian Army are to be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi, and Timişoara.

Die sind in einer Schatulle - aber wenn man bei den meisten Rumänen einen Preis (590,- ) hört dann überlegt man sich das dann doch meist wieder. ;-)

Das ist für diese Gewichtung und Reinheit wirklich ein stolzer Preis. Dann wäre da nur die geringe Auflage. Aber ob die diesen Preis rechtfertigt ist mal dahin gestellt. Also ich entscheide mich gegen diese Münzen, wegen dem Preis. :no:
