From 25 October the BNB releases in circulation a copper
commemorative coin ‘200 Years since the Birth of Zhariy Zograf’
From 25 October 2010 the Bulgarian National Bank releases in circulation a copper commemorative coin ‘200 Years since the Birth of Zhariy Zograf’. It will be sold at the BNB cash desks for BGN 18 (eighteen levs), VAT included.
‘200 Years since the Birth of Zhariy Zograf’ is the first copper commemorative coin issued by the BNB from the beginning of this year. The coin ‘140 Years of Bulgarian Exarchate’ has been in circulation since February and the coin ‘Belogradchik Rocks’ – since April. In September a partially gold-plated silver commemorative coin “125 Years of the Unification of Bulgaria” was also released in circulation.

200 Years since the Birth of Zhariy Zograf
The obverse of the coin features the logo of the Bulgarian National Bank with the year ‘1879’ written on the ribbon. In circumference is the wording ‘БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА’ (BULGARIAN NATIONAL BANK), the year of issue ‘2010’, and the nominal value of the coin ‘2 ЛЕВА’ (BGN 2).
The reverse of the coin features a plastic art interpretation by the authors of the design of Zhariy Zograf’s self-portrait displayed in the National Art Gallery, and the wording ‘200 години от рождението на Захарий Зограф’ (‘200 Years since the Birth of Zhariy Zograf’).
