BNB releases in circulation a silver
coloured commemorative coin ‘The Lad and the Wind’

From 11 September 2012 the Bulgarian National Bank issues in circulation a silver coloured commemorative coin "The Lad and the Wind”. It will be sold at the BNB teller desks for BGN 48, VAT included. This is the second commemorative coin of the ‘Bulgarian Folk Tales’ series of hand-coloured coins.

Bulgarian Folk Tales • The Lad and the Wind


The obverse of the coin features the logo of the Bulgarian National Bank and the year ‘1879’ on the strip. The text ‘БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА’ (BULGARIAN NATIONAL BANK), the nominal value ‘5 ЛЕВА’ (BGN 5) and the year of issue ‘2012’ are inscribed in circumference.

The reverse of the coin features a coloured design illustrating the folk tale ‘The Lad and the Wind’. ‘БЪЛГАРСКИ НАРОДНИ ПРИКАЗКИ’ (BULGARIAN FOLK TALES) and ‘МОМЧЕ И ВЯТЪР’ (THE LAD AND THE WIND) are inscribed in circumference.

Doppeltaler hat geschrieben:Heißt die Währung in Bulgarien nicht "Lewa"? Lei ist doch die Wärungseinheit von Rumänien gewesen oder liege ich da falsch?

Im Text steht ja auch "ЛЕВА". Und das heißt Lewa. Ist halt kyrillisch und wir Ossis hatten russisch und können das lesen.
