The Collector Coin Committee set by the Ministry of Finance invites all artists living in Finland to participate in the design competition of a collector coin "Kaj Franck and industrial art".
Wikipedia hat geschrieben:Kaj Gabriel Franck (* 9. November 1911 in Wyborg, Finnland (heute Russland); † 26. September 1989 in Helsinki) war ein finnischer Designer, der als "das Gewissen des finnischen Designs" bezeichnet wurde.
Er entwarf schlichte, höchst einfach gestaltete Gebrauchsgegenstände. Sein Prinzip war die Harmonie von Farben und Formen. Auf der Grundlage seiner Serie Kartio und seines in den fünfziger Jahren kreierten Services Kilta, ist das Service Teema entstanden, einige seiner international bekanntesten Arbeiten. In den Servicen hat der Künstler den Grundsatz seines kreativen Schaffens ausgedruckt: ständiges Streben nach reiner Form und schlichter Schönheit.

Suomen Rahapaja on mukana juhlavuoden tapahtumissa Kaj Franck ja taideteollisuus -juhlarahalla. Design-teemaiset juhlarahat muistuttavat, että usein kuvanveistäjien suunnittelemat rahat ovat designia. Kaj Franck ja taideteollisuus -juhlaraha on ensimmäinen suoraan design-teemainen raha. Suomen Rahapaja on julkistanut aikaisemmin arkkitehtuuriin liittyviä juhlarahoja Alvar Aallon (1998) ja Eero Saarisen (2010) kunniaksi.
Kaj Franck ja taideteollisuus -juhlaraha avaa Suomen Rahapajan juhlarahaohjelman Berliinin kansainvälisillä rahamessuilla 28.-30.1.2011. Messuilla julkistetaan myös vuoden 2011 muiden juhlarahojen teemat.
Rahat ovat pieniä design-veistoksia
Juhlarahat ovat pienoisveistoksia, sillä monet niistä ovat kuvanveistäjien suunnittelemia. Moni ei tule ajatelleeksi lompakon kolikko-osaston esineitä design-tuotteina. Erityisillä rahasuunnittelijoilla on elintärkeä rooli näiden arkisten design-esineiden suunnittelussa.
Kolikoihin pätevät monet hyvän designin tunnusmerkit. Ne ovat käytännöllisiä, esteettisesti kiinnostavia, huomaamattomia, yksityiskohtaisia, pitkäikäisiä ja ympäristöystävällisiä.
Kaj Franck ja taideteollisuus -juhlaraha on kunnianosoitus suomalaiselle muotoilulle
Kaj Franck ja taideteollisuus -juhlarahalla Suomen Rahapaja muistaa muotoilun mestaria. ”Meille on suuri ilo ja kunnia valmistaa Kaj Franck ja taideteollisuus -juhlaraha. Kaj Franck on varmasti koskettanut jokaista suomalaista. Toivomme, että hänen elämäntyötään kunnioittava juhlaraha ilahduttaisi niin rahankeräilijöitä kuin rahan lahjaksi saaneitakin”, sanoo toimitusjohtaja Paul Gustafsson Suomen Rahapajasta.
Kaj Franck ja taideteollisuus –juhlarahan on suunnitellut kuvanveistäjä Reijo Paavilainen, joka voitti juhlarahan suunnittelukilpailun teoksellaan ”Muotoon piirtyneet”. Hopeisen juhlarahan nimellisarvo on kymmenen euroa.

The Mint of Finland honours the greatest Finns of their time
The Mint of Finland has the honour to announce the first commemorative coins of the year in memory of two great Finns. In doing so, it also pays homage to Finnish design and science. Master of Finnish design Kaj Franck and the most famous Finnish representative of the enlightenment, Pehr Kalm, will both be honoured with commemorative coins on 28 January 2011.
The Mint of Finland begins its new season with the striking of commemorative coins in honour of the designer Kaj Franck and the natural scientist Pehr Kalm.
‘Finnish designers and scientists today are highly regarded around the world. With these commemorative coins we want to honour both Franck and Kalm who were international pioneers in the fields of Finnish design and science,’ explains Paul Gustafsson, CEO of the Mint of Finland.
In memory of a Finnish design legend
This year marks 100 years since the birth of the design legend Kaj Franck. The Mint of Finland is marking this with its Kaj Franck and Industrial Art commemorative coin.
The company is offering this coin, designed by sculptor Reijo Paavilainen, in an Iittala glass Vitriini case. The commemorative coin packaged in a Vitriini case represents a piece of interior design that pays homage to Finnish work and art.
