In der Europasternserie in diesem Jahr ehrt Spanien einen seiner Könige aus dem Mittelalter.

Alfonso den X. König von Kastillien,Leon und Gallicien genannt El Sabio der "Weise" (1221-1284).

Es gibt zwei Münzen :

Eine 10 Euro Silber - 925/1000 - 40 mm - 27 gr. - PP - 20.000 und

Eine 200 Euro Gold - 999/1000 - 30 mm - 13,5 gr. - PP - 3.500 Auflage

beide einzeln und auch wieder als 210 Euro Satz.

Ausgabe soll im April erfolgen.

Die Besonderheit : Neu in diesem Jahr ist ein Latentbild auf der Rückseite der Münzen in dem das Münzzeichen der Moeda und
das Ausgabejahr im Wechsel zu sehen ist.

Europa Program-European Heritage
Colección Completa. Programa Europa - Herencia EuropeaIn 2004, coinciding with the expansion of the European Union, several Mints from the old continent joined forces in the numismtic program entitled Europa, for the purpose of minting collector coins with a common theme.
Under the motto "European Heritage" the Spanish Mint has issued the 5th Series of collector coins in the Europa Program. The issue is dedicated to the memory of King Alfonso X the Wise (1221-1284), recognized worldwide for having created the Translators' School of Toledo and for his extensive legal, historical, scientific and literary works.
Minted in Proof quality, the collector coins in this fifth series of the Europa Program are presented in stylish jewel cases. The coins may be acquired either singly, each in its own case, or as the full set of both coins presented together in one case.
For the first time in these Europa Program series the reverse of the coins has been minted with a latent image, one of the viewing angles showing the crowned "M" and the other the year of minting.

The obverse of the silver coin has been struck with the effigy of His Majesty King Juan Carlos.
Centrally placed on the reverse is a rendering of the seated statue of King Alphonse X the Wise, sculpted by J. Alcoverro for the steps of the main façade of the National Library of Spain.
