Results of competition for graphic designs of 10 litas coin dedicated to Science approved

In the competition for the graphic design of the 10 litas collector coin from the “Lithuanian Science” series, the first place went to Rytas Jonas Belevičius, the second one to Vytautas Narutis and Alfonsas Vaura, the third one to Rūta Ničajienė. The results of the competition were approved by the Board of the Bank of Lithuania today.

The Board also approved the graphic designs for the 10 litas collector coin created by R. J. Belevičius. It was established that the edge of the coin must be plain.

The collector coin dedicated to Medical Science is to be launched in the fourth quarter this year. R. J. Belevičius' design depicts the hands of cardiologists performing heart surgery.

Mokslui skirta 10 litų auksinė moneta bus pristatyta Pinigų muziejuje

Rugsėjo 14 dieną Lietuvos bankas į apyvartą išleis pirmąją 10 litų kolekcinę (proginę) auksinę monetą iš serijos ,,Lietuvos mokslas“. Tą pačią dieną 11 val. naujoji moneta Lietuvos banko Pinigų muziejuje (Totorių g. 2/8, Vilnius) bus pristatyta visuomenei.

Į pristatymą pakviesti monetos dailininkas Rytas Jonas Belevičius, monetai skirto lankstinuko teksto autorius žinomas kardiochirurgas profesorius Giedrius Uždavinys, Lietuvos mokslų akademijos prezidentas Valdemaras Razumas. Pristatyme dalyvaus Lietuvos banko atstovai.

Kviečiame į monetos pristatymą visus, kurie domisi kolekcinėmis monetomis.

Monetas nukaldino UAB Lietuvos monetų kalykla. Tiražas – 5 000 vienetų.

Nuo išleidimo dienos naujosios kolekcinės monetos bus parduodamos Lietuvos banko kasose Vilniuje (Totorių g. 2 ir Žirmūnų g. 151), Kaune (Maironio g. 25) ir Klaipėdoje (Naujoji Uosto g. 16). Šios monetos dėžutėje pardavimo kaina – 225 litų.

Kolekcinėse monetose įamžinami svarbūs mūsų valstybės ir pasaulio istorijos įvykiai, žymūs veikėjai, architektūros paminklai.

10 litas coin from the “Lithuanian science” series

The obverse of the coin features a stylised coat of arms of the Republic of Lithuania, which is surrounded by the inscriptions 10 LITŲ (10 litas) and 2012, as well as the mintmark of the Lithuanian Mint.

The reverse of the coin artistically depicts the surgeon’s hands and a stylised heart created according to the motives of the medal by Stanislovas Kuzma “Vilnius University Cardiac and Vascular Laboratory and Clinics in 1962–1982”. The inscription “Lithuanian Science” runs in a semi-circle.
