Jubilee Coin "Pavlo Chubynskyi"

Issued into circulation on January 14, 2009.

The commemorative coin is dedicated to Pavlo Platonovych Chubynskyi, an ethnographer, folklorist, poet and public figure, who is the author of the Anthem of Ukraine “Ukraine’s glory hasn’t perished, nor her freedom…”. Pavlo Platonovych held deservedly an important position within the pleiad of the public figures and scientists of the second part of the XIX century, the Herculean efforts whereof made the national rebirth of Ukraine possible. As one of the founders of Ukrainian ethnographic science he was in charge of the ethnographic expeditions researching Ukraine, Russia and Moldavia.

On the coin obverse there are: the Small State Emblem of Ukraine (above) on the left and right hand side whereof there is conventionalized vegetable ornamentation with the composition symbolizing ethnographic researches of the scientist – folk musical instruments, the symbols of Hetman’s authority etc. – in the centre with the inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ/ БАНК/ УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) above; the inscription 2/ ГРИВНІ/ 2009 (2/Hryvnias/2009) and the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint (below).

On the coin reverse there is Pavlo Chubynskyi’s portrait within the ornamental frame together with the semicircular inscription ПАВЛО ЧУБИНСЬКИЙ (Pavlo Chubynskyi) (above) and the years of life 1839 (on the left), 1884 (on the right).

Jubilee Coin "Nikolai Gogol"

The Jubilee coin is dedicated to to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding writer who revealed to the world the singularity of Ukraine –Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol. N.Gogol was born in the village of Velyki Sorochyntsi (now in Poltava oblast) in the family of a writer.

On the coin obverse above there is the Small National Emblem of Ukraine with the semicircular legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine), below there are the coin face value and issue year - 5 ГРИВЕНЬ/2009 (5 hryvnias/2009) as well as the composition symbolizing two main subjects of Gogol’s creative work: that of Ukraine with its history, traditions, myths and the topic of the imperial capital city with its high life, etc.

On the coin reverse there is a portrait of Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol dressed in a cape and a vyshyvanka (embroidered shirt) embodying the land that had educated him. Above there is the semicircular inscription МИКОЛА ГОГОЛЬ (Nikolai Gogol in Ukrainian) and below 1809/1852 – years of his life.

The Jubilee coin is dedicated to 150th anniversary of Sholem Aleichem, the world known author, playwright and educator, whose works combine humor and lyricism.

On the coin obverse: above there is the Small National Emblem of Ukraine with the semicircular legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine), in the centre – the conventionalized composition: against the background of book sheets - Sholem Aleichem`s personal signet with a fragmentary cartoon regarding his creative work (on the right), below there are the coin face value and issue year - 5 ГРИВЕНЬ/2009 (5 hryvnias/2009).

On the coin reverse: there are Sholem Aleichem`s portrait and inscriptions in circumference: above - МИР ВАМ (peace be with you), below – 1859-1916, on the right – ШОЛОМ-АЛЕЙХЕМ (Sholem Aleichem), on the left – РАБИНОВИЧ ШОЛОМ (Rabinovich Sholem), being the latter two stylized and in Ukrainian.

Jubilee Coin "Andrii Livytskyi"

The commemorative coin “Andrii Livytskyi” with the face value of 2 hryvnias is dedicated to Andrii Mykolaiovych Livytskyi, a Ukrainian expert in law, statesman, public and political figure.

On the coin obverse there are: the Small State Emblem of Ukraine (in the centre), the coin issue year 2009 (thereunder), the circumferential legends Національний банк України (National Bank of Ukraine) above and ДВІ ГРИВНІ (Two hryvnias) below together with the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

On the coin reverse there are A.M. Livytskyi’s portrait and the inscriptions: АНДРІЙ ЛІВИЦЬКИЙ (Andrii Livytskyi) – above (semicircular), 1879/1954 – years of life, to the right of the portrait, and beneath (semicircular) – ПРЕЗИДЕНТ УНР В ЕКЗИЛІ (President of the UPR (Ukrainian People’s Republic) in Exile).

The commemorative coin is dedicated to Roman Shukhevych, one of the outstanding leaders of the Ukrainian liberation movement of the 20 – 50s of the 20th century, a military and political figure. Roman Volodymyrovych Shukhevych (Taras Chuprynka) – a lieutenant-general and the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (1943-1950) is a bright representative of generation of the stormy 1920 - 40s.

On the coin obverse there is a composition: the conventionalized broken uphill road, against the background whereof there is the inscription - СЛАВА/ УКРАЇНІ! (Glorified be / Ukraine!); above – the Small National Emblem of Ukraine and the semi-circular inscription - НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine), thereunder – the coin face value: П’ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ (five hryvnias), the indication of metal and its fineness – Ag 925, weight in fineness – 15.55 g; There is also placed the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

On the coin reverse there is a portrait of Roman Shukhevych against the background of a conventionalized forest, which symbolizes military resistance to invaders and the national - liberation movement in Ukraine, and placed are the inscriptions: to the right -ГЕРОЯМ/СЛАВА! Rätselraten hat ein Ende!!! Die "Roman Shukhevych" wurde im original in einem günen Etui zu Höhstpreisen von der NBU NUR ausschließlich an national ukrainische Händler verkauft. Seit meiner Mria habe ich niemals solche Probleme wie bei der Beschafbarkeit der "Roman Shukhevych" erlebt!!! :crazy: Eine voll Fette Seuche dat Dingen aufzuspüren!!! :crazy:

:oops: Vergesst das!!! Das ist definitiv SHIT!!!!!!!!!! Liebe Leute mal wieder typisch ukrainisch diese Fehlinformationen - habe ich schon zig mal erlebt!!! Zuerst hört man das eine und dann das andere - aber ein Anruf bei der NBU brachte endgültige Klarheit:

"Roman Shukhevych" wurde genau wie die Canbanas in mitternachsblauen Sammtetui ausgeliefert

P.S.: Aber vergesst mal ganz schnell english als Geschäftssprache bei der NBU!!! :hihi: English spricht bei der NBU kaum jemand - kaum zu glauben das die Jungs eine wenig aktuelle englischsprachige Internetseite haben!!! :crazy: Achso für alle die es noch nicht wissen hier mal der Link Gedenkmünzen der Ukraine in Englisch ;-)
