Historical series "The 1150th Anniversary of the Origin of the Russian Statehood"

On March 20, 2012 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of precious metals:

- two silver proof coins in denomination of 3 and 100 Roubles and two gold proof coins in denomination of 50 and 10000 of the historical series "The 1150th Anniversary of the Origin of the Russian Statehood";

and commemorative coin of base metals in denomination of 10 Rubles of the historical series "The 1150th Anniversary of the Origin of the Russian Statehood".

The description of the coins of precious metals:

The silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1g, fineness 925/1000, catalogue number 5111-0232, diameter 39.0 mm, mintage 5000 pcs), the silver proof coin in denomination of 100 Roubles (fine metal content 1000g, fineness 925/1000, catalogue number 5117-0052, diameter 100.0 mm, mintage 300 pcs), the gold proof coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (fine metal content 7.78g, fineness 999/1000, catalogue number 5216-0084, diameter 22.6 mm, mintage 1500 pcs) and the gold proof coin in denomination of 10000 Roubles (fine metal content 1000g, fineness 999/1000, catalogue number 5221-0020, diameter 100.0 mm, mintage 75 pcs) of the historical series "The 1150th Anniversary of the Origin of the Russian Statehood" have the rim, raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference.

The obverse: the relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia - the two-headed eagle with wings down, and the semicircular inscription under it "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed by a circle of beads. The inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coins "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE ROUBLES), "ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ" (FIFTY ROUBLES), "СТО РУБЛЕЙ" (ONE HUNDRED ROUBLES) and "ДЕСЯТЬ ТЫСЯЧ РУБЛЕЙ" (TEN THOUSAND ROUBLES) respectively and the year of issue "2012", between them - the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, the purity, the Saint Petersburg mint trade mark of and the fine precious metal content.

The original number sign of the coin "¹ ____" is indicated on the lower part of the obverse side of the coin in denomination of 10000 Roubles close to the fine precious metal content indication.

The reverse side:

- of the silver coin in denomination of 3 Roubles depicts the relief images of a stylized Viking ship and a fragment of a Radzivill Chronicle under it framed by a circle. The inscription along the circumference says "1150-ЛЕТИЕ ЗАРОЖДЕНИЯ РОССИЙСКОЙ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОСТИ" (THE 1150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ORIGIN OF THE RUSSIAN STATEHOOD) limited by an ornament;

- of the silver coin in denomination of 100 Roubles depicts the relief images of a military squad, peasant people and ships against the background of old Russian settlements framed by a circle. The inscriptions are: "ИЗБОРСК" (IZBORSK), "НОВГОРОД" (NOVGOROD), "ЛАДОГА" (LADOGA), "БЕЛООЗЕРО" (BELOOZERO), "РОСТОВ" (ROSTOV), "МУРОМ" (MUROM) and "1150-ЛЕТИЕ ЗАРОЖДЕНИЯ РОССИЙСКОЙ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОСТИ" (THE 1150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ORIGIN OF THE RUSSIAN STATEHOOD) limited by an ornament;

- of the gold coin in denomination of 50 Roubles depicts the relief image of the prince Rurik. The inscriptions are: "КНЯЗЬ РЮРИК" (PRINCE RURIK) in two lines to the right and "1150-ЛЕТИЕ ЗАРОЖДЕНИЯ РОССИЙСКОЙ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОСТИ" (THE 1150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ORIGIN OF THE RUSSIAN STATEHOOD) limited by an ornament;

- of the gold coin in denomination of 10000 Roubles depicts the relief images of the flag of the President of the Russian Federation, a cartouche consisting of weapons and armour, church utensils and the symbols of the state power – two-headed eagle, Monomakh’s Cap, the scepter, orb and a small coat of arms of the Russian Empire against the background of the Moscow Kremlin. The inscription along the circumference limited by an ornament says "1150-ЛЕТИЕ ЗАРОЖДЕНИЯ РОССИЙСКОЙ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОСТИ" (THE 1150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ORIGIN OF THE RUSSIAN STATEHOOD).

The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The description of the coins of base metals

The coin is 22.0 mm in diameter, yellow in color and has the rim, raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated, with each section containing different number of corrugations, alternated with smooth sections

The obverse: In the upper part of the coin - the inscription along the rim: "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), in the lower part - the year of issue "2012". On the left and on the right sides of the coins – the stylized images of the bay tree and oak twigs respectively. In the center of the disc - the indication of the face value of the coin "10 РУБЛЕЙ" (10 ROUBLES) in two lines. Inside the figure "0" – a protective element in the form of the figure "10" and the inscription "РУБ" (RUB) - visible by turns when changing the angle of vision. In the lower part of the disc - the mint trademark.

The reverse side of the coin bears the relief image of the fragment of the "Millenium of Russia" Monument in the city of Veliky Novgorod.framed by a circle. The inscription along the rim limited by an ornament says "1150-ЛЕТИЕ ЗАРОЖДЕНИЯ РОССИЙСКОЙ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОСТИ" (THE 1150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ORIGIN OF THE RUSSIAN STATEHOOD), The dates to left and to the right of the image are: "862" and "2012".

The mintage of the coin – 10000000 pcs.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
