Mint of Finland hat geschrieben:A limited number of 2014 uncirculated coins will go on sale on 3 February
Mint of Finland has minted a small amount of uncirculated coins in 2014 following a decision from the Ministry of Finance. The coins are mainly being released for collectors and are not intended for general circulation. Coins can be purchased in bags containing a coin of each denomination at the Mint of Finland factory outlet store on 3 February. The price of the bag is EUR 16. The bags will be available at the online shop on 4 February.
Commercial banks will no longer act as retailers of uncirculated, i.e. collector coins, as Mint of Finland is taking responsibility for storage and shipping of these coins.
Mint of Finland offers private customers a chance to buy uncirculated coins in bags containing one coin of each denomination. There will be a total of 1000 bags for sale, and the price of the bag is EUR 16.
Feedback helps us improve our future services
We would like hear our customers' comments about the new procedure. Mint of Finland will be collecting feedback about uncirculated coins from its customers during the spring. You can send your feedback to us by emailing info@suomenrahapaja.fi or calling +358 9 8943 4343.
Mint of Finland will consider the customer feedback and, if possible, offer coins in the sets and packages that customers would prefer.

MoF hat geschrieben:Mint of Finland Ltd to begin sale of numismatic uncirculated coins in new situation
On 31 January 2014, the Mint of Finland Ltd published a product bulletin for its distributors and online shop customers informing them that the company is offering for sale a limited edition of 2014 numismatic uncirculated coins. The product bulletin has not sufficiently given reasons for the change that is due to the reorganisation of the logistics of currency suppply in Finland. The Mint of Finland regrets the confusion it has caused and now in this new situation wishes to clarify the factors underpinning the price rise.
The Mint of Finland Ltd is a company whose business is the manufacture of coins. The Mint of Finland mints coins for Finland to the order of the Ministry of Finance. The Mint of Finland Ltd is owned by the Finnish state and the company aims, like all businesses, to generate profit. The price of coins minted for Finland is made up of variable costs: materials, labour, royalties paid to the state as well as of fixed costs such the distribution network’s (distributor network) costs and VAT.
The smaller the number of coins minted, the more expensive is the cost of manufacture as a larger proportion of fixed costs and costs of tools, for example, is then directed at a single product.
At the beginning of 2014, significant changes occurred in the logistics of Finnish currency supply that have contributed to the fact that 2014 euro coins do not need to be manufactured for Finland. In other words, there are a sufficient number of coins in stock to meet projected needs.
The Mint of Finland Ltd has been given the responsibility of storing and distributing numismatic, i.e. collector coins, which means that the company takes a financial risk in respect of the coin edition being manufactured. This in turn means that the company is responsible for the financing, distribution, inventory risk, etc. of the coin edition. As the Mint of Finland has to and has had to pay the nominal value of the coins, the retail price of the coins must be high enough to cover the costs described above, cover the inventory risk and generate sufficient profit.
The inventory risk arises on account of the fact that the Mint of Finland has undertaken under the agreement to ensure that the edition of 200,000 coins will not be allowed into normal circulation.
We have asked customers to offer comments and provide us with feedback. We aim on the basis of the feedback and realised sales to arrange another sale in the autumn if any products remain unsold.
